Upgrading to JReviews 2.7

1. Backup your site before doing the upgrade. You can use tools like Akeeba Backup for this purpose.
2. If you created the jreviews_overrides folder for customizations, disable the overrides in JReviews Configuration. After the upgrade is completed, you will need to update your customized files or redo the customizations in new JReviews 2.7 files.
3. Click on Remote Install & Update link in JReviews administration, check the Updates checkbox and upgrade S2Framework and JReviews.
4. Go back to the JReviews remote installer and install the Ratings Migrator add-on. Reload the page, go to the Ratings Migrator add-on and click the Start button. The add-on will update JReviews database tables for compatibility with JReviews 2.. If you don't see the Ratings Migrator add-on appear in the sidebar after installation, then try going to the Add-on Manager, click on the discover tab. Check the add-on and click on the install button. If this also doesn't work make sure that folders inside the /components/com_s2framework/tmp/cache folder are all writable. If you are still unable to see the add-on submit a ticket.
5. Upgrade other JReviews add-ons that you purchased.
6. Clear browser cache after completing the upgrade.

Upgrading to JReviews 2.7 from JReviews 2.6 and older

1. Create a development site first to test the upgrade. You can use website cloning tools like Akeeba Backup for this purpose.
2. Uninstall all add-ons via Remote Install & Update page in JReviews administration..
3. If you made any code customizations in JReviews, those customized files can't be used with JReviews 2.7. If you placed the customized files in the /templates/jreviews_overrides folder, disable the overrides in JReviews Configuration before doing the upgrade. If you still want to use your old customizations in JReviews 2.7, you have two options:
   • compare the code of your customized files with the code in new JReviews 2.7 files and update your custom files with the code changes that JReviews 2.7 brings.
   • redo your customizations in new JReviews 2.7 files
4. Uninstall the S2Framework and JReviews components. Uninstalling JReviews modules and plugins is not necessary as these will be automatically upgraded when you re-install JReviews. Also uninstalling modules will result in the lose of all your existing menu associations which is something you want to avoid.
5. Download the latest JReviews 2.7 package from the client area, your upgrades need to be valid or you need to order a new upgrades package.
6. Install the new S2Framework and JReviews and CLEAR the browser cache.
7. If you purchased any JReviews add-ons, install them from the remote installer in JReviews administration and CLEAR the browser cache.
8. Go to the JReviews remote installer and install the Ratings Migrator add-on. Reload the page, go to the Ratings Migrator add-on and click the Start button. The add-on will update JReviews database tables for compatibility with JReviews 2.7. If you don't see the Ratings Migrator add-on appear in the sidebar after installation, then try going to the Add-on Manager, click on the discover tab. 9. Extra step if you are upgrading from JReviews 2.3 or older. Go to the JReviews remote installer and install the Image Migrator add-on and then follow the instructions. You need to setup the storage settings for photos in JReviews Media Settings before you run the migrator.
