Creating Joomla Categories

First step in setting up JReviews is to create Joomla categories that will contain JReviews listings. With Joomla 1.7 it is possible to create unlimited levels of categories. Examples of different category structures are available on the directory pages on JReviews demo site:

• City Guide Directory
• Products Catalog
• Movies & TV Shows
• Classifieds
• Events
• News

Most of those directories contain several top level categories with many subcategories. JReviews listings are placed into last level categories.

Creating Sections

1. In Joomla administration area click on Content -> Section Manager menu.
2. Click New in the toolbar.
3. Enter the Title of the Section, other fields are not required. If you write something into the Description text area, it will be displayed on JReviews Section pages.
4. Click Save.

• Repeat the steps to create all Sections that you need for your site.

Creating Categories

1. In Joomla administration area click on Content -> Category Manager menu.
2. Click New in the toolbar.
3. Enter the Title of the Category, other fields are not required. If you write something into the Description text area, it will be displayed on JReviews Category pages.
4. Select the Section to which this Category will belong.
5. Click Save.

• Repeat the steps to create all Categories that you need for your site.
