The first step to setup JReviews with Joomla is to create Joomla Categories.

You can create any number of categories and use unlimited levels of subcategories, but it is recommended to avoid creating a huge number of Joomla categories, otherwise the overall setup might be very time consuming.

For a City Guide type of site we recommend creating Joomla categories for main types of listings that the site will have. Later it will be possible to allow visitors to filter those categories with additional virtual categories.

In this tutorial, we'll create 5 top level categories and one of them will have 3 subcategories:

  • Hotels
  • Restaurants
  • Bars
  • Museums
  • Local Services
    • Professional Services
    • Home Services
    • Automotive Services
